Mohr began her career as a glamorous model when she was just 24 years old. It was due to suggestions from a UGA friend of hers. She was a contestant in Miss Columbus, 1985. She won the contest by beating each competitor. As a result of her victory, she was entitled to compete at Miss Georgia. Miss Georgia pageant in June 1985. On June 22 in 1985, she was also crowned the competition. Mohr was picked to represent Georgia and Georgia's state of Georgia, at Miss America's 1986 pageant that was held in Atlantic City New Jersey. But, she wasn't among the top 10 finalists to win the title of Miss America national.
