Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna was famous when she made the decision to contest as an independent candidate in the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of the Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as The most influential women in media. She was ranked 12th position on their ranking. In the same year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 of the media lists. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of the media group, which also included the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was closely associated with her father it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her character. While in her formative period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which are still in high demand. When she turned 16 she emigrated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman and the only foreign president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics.
